The present paper continues a series of publications by the authors on the mechanics of biopolymers, composites and sutures applied for their connection. The aid of the work is the study of deformation characteristics and types of the sutures connecting the trachea under tension. Considered are interrupted and uninterrupted (continuous) sutures. Test procedure is tension of the specimens along the trachea axis. The paper gives tensile test results for the specimens of the whole trachea and their comparison with deformation data for the strips cut-off from the trachea. The model is presented in which the trachea is considered as an adhesion joint and a solution of the problems simulating the behavior of trachea specimens with and the without sutures. Solution results enable one to explain the differences in test results.
