Study of mechanisms of fracture of composition with rigid inclusion subjected to extension by concentrated forces

Abstract:

We study mechanisms of fracture of composite material having linear inclusion. We consider the plane problem. Assuming the inclusion has a bounded tensile strength, we analyze two variants of the fracture: (a) the rupture of the inclusion; (b) the lamination of the inclusion. We establish a critical length of inclusion; along with elastic and strength characteristics, the critical length of inclusion determines the mechanism of local fracture. We also determine the values of ultimate loads.
