Abstract:

We present results of study of kinetics of gelatinization in sols of silica manufactured as a result of acidic hydrolysis of tetraethoxysilane in the presence of ethyl alcohol with subsequent addition of various components (water, ferric salts, aluminum nitrates, cobalt, plumbum, strontium, etc.). Our goal is to obtain the patterns of relationship for gelatinization of superfine acidic sols of silica (pH 1-3) before and after the introduction of overbalance value of water and nitrates of salts. Unlike other publications, we determine not only time of gelatinization but also study the kinetics of this process (namely, we study variation of rheological parameters of systems). We reveal some characteristic features of transformation of a sols with overbalance value of water into gel structure both with the presence of electrolytes and with no electrolytes.
