Research of failure criteria for composite specimens with stress concentrator at compression

Abstract:

Experimental data about strength of composite specimens with concentrators of stresses have been obtained; the finite element method was used to investigate their tension. Level of ultimate loads and character of failure of the specimens in the experiment was compared with a stress distribution field in the zone of critical holes and with characteristics of the composite material of the plates defining strength of specimens. Criteria for definition of compressive strength of composite structure elements with stress concentrators have been suggested.
