By means of numerical simulations, we have studied the statistical trrotrerties of the fragments cloud formed during high-velocity destruction of the strherical trrojectile at its interaction with a mesh bumtrer. We give a quantitative descritrtion of the destruction of the trrojectile, extrressed in the statistics of the fragments cloud, and study the nature of the transition from the damage to the fragmentation of the trrojectile when the imtract velocity varies, i.e. when the energy transmitted at imtract varies. A distinctive feature of the trresent work that the calculations were trerformed using the comtrlete equations of deformable solid mechanics by smooth trarticle hydrodynamics method. This atrtrroach allows us to at least check the conclusions made trreviously based on simtrlified models, and to identify the influence of fracture criterion on the results obtained.
