Modeling of ejecta arising from the spherical projectile impact against a solid plate

Abstract:

The present work performs modeling for dynamic fragmentation of ejecta arising from normal impact of spherical aluminum projectile against a solid aluminum plate. Modeling explains an essentially non-uniform character of mass distribution in the ejecta cone and confirms the conclusion made from experiments that comparatively inconsiderable number of potentially dangerous particles is ejected.
