Generalized fractal model of the flow of amorphous glassy polymers

Abstract:

Amorphous glassy polymers, unlike metals, are thermodynamically nonequilibrium solids having a fractal structure. The fundamental difference between the structure and the morphological features of metals and polymers, and is due to a fundamental difference in the mechanisms of deformation, despite the qualitative similarity curve Stress-strain. As part of the fractal approach is discussed in the model to explain the mechanism of pour point of the polymer matrix in the transition to a glassy state. In contrast to the known molecular concepts, linking the process of deformation of the polymer matrix with the change of free volume and molecular mobility, this paper shows that this phenomenon can be explained by structural positions, namely, the transition from a multifractal structure fractal.
