Behavior of a multilayered target consisting of seventeen layers intermetallide Al3Ti – titanium alloy Ti-6-4 under high-velocity impact is investigated numerically by a finite element method in axisymmetrical statement. Model of failure of wide-range type is applied for the description of a failure process of intermetallide. It is revealed that failure of layers of the composite target goes on different prevailing mechanisms – brittle (a layer of intermetallide) and viscous (a layer of metal). The optimum ratio of components thickness of the composite layer is found for the investigated conditions of loading.
