Acoustic anisotropy of skin

Abstract:

Skin is a natural composite material. We study mechanical properties of skin using an acoustic method. This method allows us to determine the speed of propagation of surface sound waves. It is shown that skin reveals the property of acoustic anisotropy, which depend on the direction of natural tension of skin.
