Frequency relationships for dynamic characteristics of linear polymers under simple shear

Abstract:

We obtain a rheological equation for linear polymers as a result of implementation of statistic mechanics for a suspension of elastic dumb-bells that are independent from each others and move in a nonlinear anisotropic medium. Using this rheological equation, we consider the results of numeric simulation of superposition of small oscillations on a steady-state shear flow of solutions and melts of linear polymers when these small oscillations are acted in the directions that are parallel or orthogonal to the direction of shear. We obtain the relationships between the components of a complex modulus of shear, on the one hand, and the frequency of oscillations and shear rate, on the other hand. The results obtained are compared with known experimental data.
