Effective physical-mechanical characteristics of an 1-3 piezo-composite for low-frequency applied problems

Abstract:

We get expressions for effective characteristics of piezo-composite materials of 1-3-connectivity for low-frequency applied problems and obtain effective constants of composites that depend both on properties of piezo-ceramics and polymer filler and on a function of ceramic packing (the last indicates the value of inclusion volume fraction of the ceramics in the whole volume of the composite). We study the effect of the Young modulus on polymer filler as well as the influence of porosity of ceramic rods on general characteristics of the composite under consideration when they are used instead of pure ceramics. It is shown that, first, this type of piezo-composite holds promise as compared to pure ceramics, and second, the variation in properties of materials exerts pronounced effect on general characteristics of the materials under consideration. We present a comparison of results obtained with numerical and analytical results published earlier.
